My daughter's favorite character in the whole world is Minne Mouse, so of course I had to make her a Minnie cake. This cake was easy until I got to the hat. I HATE marshmallow fondant. The ears were floppy and the hat would not keep shape. This will be the last cake I use this type of fondant on unless I am using it to simply cover the cake. Maybe I will try adding some gum tex to stiffen it up a little. Oh, well...I guess it still turned out ok.

kindergarten graduation cake
I was asked to make a graduation cake for my niece's kindergarten class. My sister helped me out with this one. We wanted to make a fondant bow for the top of the cake, but soon discovered that this would be impossible to do with marshmallow fondant. I really hate the taste of regular fondant, but it keeps its shape so much better than marshmallow. Anyway, my sister came up with this star thingy for the top and I think it looks pretty snazzy. I guess the kids really liked it, because there wasn't a slice left to bring home!
princess Tiana cake
I made my first "barbie doll" cake for my niece's 6th birthday. It was actually pretty easy. I baked a chocolate cake in one of my mixing bowls and put it on top of an 8 inch round to add a little more height to the dress. I looked online for instructions on how to make to make a fondant frog and I think he turned out pretty cute.
The hardest part of making cakes is keeping my kids out of the kitchen. They all want to put their little dirty fingers on everything!!
